About us

Born from Experience. Built for the Diaspora.

When thousands of African families moved abroad in search of new opportunities, many soon discovered how different the school systems were.

Teachers, grading systems, and learning pace—everything felt unfamiliar. Parents worried that their children might lose the strong academic foundation they had built back home.

That’s why we created LearnBridge Africa: a community of experienced teachers offering personalized online tutoring to help diaspora children stay academically strong, culturally grounded, and confident anywhere in the world.

Frequently Asked Questions

Some Frequently Asked Questions for Parents

What is LearnBridge Africa and who do you support?

LearnBridge Africa provides personalised online tutoring designed to help students strengthen their academic foundations and build confidence in their studies. We work with students across different learning levels, supporting subjects such as Mathematics, English/Literacy, and the Sciences. Our approach is particularly helpful for children who need additional support to keep up with school expectations or prepare for examinations.

Our tutors focus on building strong academic foundations while helping students develop confidence and independent learning skills. Lessons are interactive and tailored to each student’s pace and needs. Rather than simply giving answers, tutors guide students through concepts step by step so they fully understand the material.

We carefully match tutors to students based on several factors, including the child’s learning needs, age, academic level, and subject requirements. This ensures that each student is supported by a tutor who can best help them progress.

All LearnBridge Africa tutors go through a screening and selection process before joining our team. This includes reviewing their academic background, teaching experience, and ability to work effectively with students online. We prioritise tutors who are patient, engaging, and committed to helping children succeed.

The first lesson usually focuses on understanding the student’s current level and learning needs. The tutor may review recent school work, ask diagnostic questions, and observe how the child approaches different tasks. All these ties into the baseline assessment we conduct during the first meeting. This helps us design a learning plan that addresses specific gaps and builds confidence.

No. While we can certainly assist students with homework, our tutoring goes beyond that. We focus on strengthening foundational skills, improving understanding of key concepts, and helping students become more confident learners. This often leads to better performance in school overall.

Yes. Parents are welcome to occasionally observe lessons, especially for younger children. However, we generally encourage students to engage independently with the tutor so they can build confidence and focus fully on the learning process.

Our tutors monitor student progress during lessons and communicate key observations to parents. We use these to provide midterm and end-of-term reports as feedback to the parents. Over time, we look for improvements in understanding, participation, confidence, and performance in schoolwork. Where necessary, tutors adjust teaching strategies to ensure continued progress.

Yes. Many children who come to us feel uncertain about their abilities or worry about making mistakes. Our tutors create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through challenges. Over time, this helps build both confidence and academic ability.

Online tutoring can be just as effective when lessons are well structured and interactive. Our tutors use digital tools such as shared whiteboards, visual explanations, and guided exercises to keep students engaged. Many families also find online lessons more convenient because they save travel time and allow students to learn from the comfort of home.

Our tutors use interactive teaching methods that keep students actively involved in the lesson. Students are encouraged to solve problems, explain their thinking, and participate in discussions rather than simply listening passively. This approach helps maintain attention and improves understanding.

Students typically need a stable internet connection and a device such as a laptop or tablet with a camera and microphone. Lessons are conducted through widely used platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams, which are easy to access.

We currently offer tutoring in Mathematics, English/Literacy, and the Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics). Our focus is on helping students develop strong academic foundations and the skills needed to succeed in school.

We understand that unexpected situations can arise. If a lesson needs to be rescheduled, we encourage parents to inform us as early as possible so we can make alternative arrangements where possible.

Yes. In certain situations, we can accommodate pro-rata payments depending on when lessons begin during the month. This ensures that parents only pay for the sessions their child receives.

Lessons can be scheduled across different days of the week depending on tutor availability and the parent’s preferred schedule. Many families choose weekend or after-school sessions to fit around their child’s routine.

Getting started is simple. Parents can schedule a short consultation with our team to discuss their child’s needs, preferred schedule, and learning goals. After that conversation, we match the student with a suitable tutor and arrange the first lesson.
